The Foundation or Prep year is a very important part of any child’s education. Our priority for our students is to build positive and supportive relationships within a safe, friendly environment. Together with families we set individual learning goals and provide inspiring and motivating learning opportunities to meet those goals.
At NIDDRIE AUTISTIC SCHOOL, individual students and their needs are at the centre of curriculum planning and delivery.
The early years program focuses on foundation skills in social communication, emotional skills, language, learning and academic skills.
Student learning priorities are identified and addressed in the ILP.
The Victorian Curriculum informs individual learning plans and provides the context for learning.
Following the development of student ILPs teaching teams collaborate to co-design how individual goals can be addressed within group sessions.
Individual needs of students are addressed within group needs.
Group sessions are selected in response to identified target goals, student strengths and interests.
