SPOT is Niddrie Autistic School’s integrated Speech Pathology and Occupational Therapy service.
Our Speech Pathologists and Occupational Therapists work alongside teachers, education support staff, students, and families to support participation, communication, learning, wellbeing, and access to the curriculum. Rather than providing therapy in isolation, SPOT therapists embed supports within everyday classroom activities, routines, and school experiences, including:
- ILP Goals: Explicitly teaching and supporting students to achieve their Individual Learning Plan (ILP) goals.
- Communication: Ensuring every student has access to effective communication, including AAC and other personalised communication systems.
- Assessment: Supporting differentiated assessment of communication, literacy, social, functional, and adaptive skills.
- Teacher Support: Supporting teachers to interpret assessment data, develop learning programs, and build their capacity through coaching and professional learning.
- Collaboration: Working alongside families and external professionals to support positive outcomes for students.
